How COVID-19 has affected The Wedding and Event Industry.

The most current and pressing matter is the COVID-19 and its impact on events with more than ten people. It is clear that the wedding and event industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, and it will likely take a while for the industry to make a full recovery.

The wedding industry has also never encountered the likes of COVID-19. It is a ripple effect that is felt by all participating vendors, families, and bridal couples.

Weddings scheduled for April and May and possibly June of 2020 are being postponed. This impacts scheduling for all vendors booked for providing services to the wedding, and whether the venue will allow the event to be moved.

Currently, most wedding vendors are doing all they can to be accommodating. However, most businesses are at the mercy of the state they conduct business in. When it comes to businesses being in compliance, the Governor ordinances rule. This will impact an individual’s freedom to host weddings, so alternative planning is essential. The best rule of thumb during such unprecedented times is to be flexible, keep an open mind, and have patience, grace, and trust that things will work out.

As a full-service event design and planning firm, the biggest con for us is that we’ve never dealt with cancelations and postponements on this grand of a scale.

Fortunately, there are benefits of working with an experienced wedding planner, like Joan Day Weddings. We know how to make last-minute changes, ensure that all legalities in vendor contracts are binding and met and that our clients’ best interests are at the forefront.

At Joan Day Weddings, we keep our clients abreast of any changes that impact their particular wedding date and events surrounding it. We are proactively reaching out to all vendors and planning contingencies for weddings as late as August of 2020. We want to ensure that if one of our clients has to reschedule due to COVID-19, that we’ve thought about the scenario long before it becomes a reality.
